WEEK 5: 14TH FEBRUARY 2012

Title              : Do some research about the sensor characteristic.

Objective     : 1) To make sure that the sensor that been choose                               fulfill the Smart Chicken Coop function                                             requirement.

           

Procedure   : 1) Search about the Water Level Sensor, LM35DZ                              and Humidity Sensor characteristic.

                  

Results        : 

1) Water Level Sensor

-       For watering the chicks.

-       When the sensor detect the water is in LOW level, the water container will automatically refill.

           2) LM35DZ

                        -    For temperature controlling.

                        -    When the sensor detects the LOW                                                   temperature, the light bulb will turn ON.

                        -    When the sensor detects the HIGH                                                   temperature, the light bulb will turn OFF.

                                  3) Humidity Sensor

                       -    To provide good ventilation in chicken coop.

                       -    The Humidity sensor will detect the ability of air                                to hold moisture depends upon its                                                    temperature.

                       -    The level of humidity influences the ability of                                    the chicks to cool itself.

Conclusion     : From the research, the Water Level Sensor,                                   LM35DZ and Humidity Sensor are fulfilled the                                 Smart Chicken Coop function.

WEEK 4: 8TH FEBRUARY 2012

Title                : Do some research about the sensor.

Objectives     : 1) To find the suitable sensor that can be use                                       according to the Smart Chicken Coop function.

            

Procedure     : 1) Start searching about the sensor that can detect                              level.  

                         2) Searching about the sensor that can detect the                               temperature sensitively.

                         3) Searching about the sensor that can detect the                               ventilation.

Results           : Three sensor that been choose are Water Level                             Sensor, LM35DZ and Humidity Sensor.

Conclusion     : From the research, the Water Level Sensor will                               detect the level of the water, the LM35DZ will                                   detect the temperature and the Humidity Sensor                             will detect the ventilation.

WEEK 3: 30TH JANUARY 2012

Title              : Preparing for the proposal.

Objectives   : 1) To know the format of the Final Year Project                                     proposal.

                       2) To understand in details about the Smart                                           Chicken Coop.

Procedures : 1) The FYP proposal format can be refer at                                          (http://rps.bmi.edu.my).

                       2) By doing some research, the right time to feed                                the chicken, the suitable temperature needed by                            the chickens and the problem that been faced                                while breeding the chicks had been explored.

Results         : From the research, the problem and the important                           needs while breeding the chicken can be the                                   function to this project.

Conclusion   : After doing some research, the function of Smart                           Chicken Coop will be function had been found. It                             will control the temperature and the lamp and will                             detect the level of the food and water.

WEEK 2: 25TH JANUARY 2012

Title             : Briefing about the Final Year Project (FYP) with the                         FYP Committee at Gemilang Hall.

Objectives   : 1) To know about the FYP updates.

                       2) To understand about the System Engineering.

Procedures : 1) The FYP Committee had informed that starting                                 by this Semester, all Degree students taking                                   FYP 1 should create a blog to show their                                         progress. If the students are failed to do so will                               losing up 3% per week from the total score.

                       2) Once the blog had been create, the url must be                               updated at the Research and Postgraduate                                     Studies page (http://rps.bmi.edu.my).

                     

Results        : The blog had been created and the url had been                            updated at the Research and Postgraduate Studies                        page (http://rps.bmi.edu.my).

                       The title of the project and the name of the                                      Supervisor had been submitted.

Conclusion   : After doing some research, the Smart Chicken                              Coop had been selected as the title of my Final                              Year Project.

WEEK 1: 16TH JANUARY 2012

Title              : Briefing about the Final Year Project (FYP) with the                        FYP Committee at Gemilang Hall.

Objectives   : 1) To understand what is a Final Year Project                                       about.

                       2) To know about the new procedure and format for                             Final Year Project.

Procedures : 1) Mr. Zulkhairi B Mohd Yusof and Mr. Ismail B                                    Adam had brief about the Final year Project.

                       2) All Degree student taking FYP 1 must submit the                            name of their Supervisor’s name and the title of                              the project by Week 2.

                       3) All FYP students must Sign In and always keep                              browsing the Research and Postgraduate                                        Studies page (http://rps.bmi.edu.my) to get any                              information and update about the FYP.

                       4) All Degree student taking FYP 1 should update                               their name, contact number and email at the                                     Student Profile site.

Results        : The Student Profile had been update.

Conclusion  : All student had understood and clearly been brief                            about the Final Year Project.

This blog had been created to show the progress of my Final Year Project (FYP) from the beginning until the end. This blog is one of the methods to replace from writing the Logbook. In other words, I will keep update my blog every week to show the progress. My Supervisor, Mr. Abdul Rashid B Othman and the FYP Committees are responsible to coordinate and monitor the progress of my project from this blog. I hope I can successfully completed this project by the duration that been given which started from S1/2012 until S2/2012.
